Geothermal

In conventional geothermal wells, if the temperature of the well is less than 160oC, they are disregarded as it is not considered commercially viable to set up a geothermal plant with these wells. The drilling of the well and the heat being expelled are then 'wasted' as there is no action taken to harness the heat.

With FlexiGen, this will no longer be a problem. Operating between 50-220oC, FlexiGen systems are perfectly suited for these wells. They can be connected to these wells and be able to generate electricity from the heat.

Opportunities with FlexiGen in geothermal applications:

- Use in surface water wells that are comparatively lower in temperature to conventional geothermal wells and be able to maximise power output from these 'low value' wells;

- Connection to existing geothermal systems to increase the efficiency of the system by producing more electricity from the output 'waste' heat, utilizing existing investment and infrastructure.
